For the boating season ( March through November ) we are looking for enthusiastic and serious

Part-time, full-time skippers 10 – 38 hours per week

who, in addition to being a skipper, enjoys approaching our guests in a customer-oriented manner and cruising them around to their satisfaction. The job can also be filled as a side job only for Saturdays/weekends or evenings.

Your
– are in possession of a small boating license or willing to obtain license1 at short notice;
– You have extensive experience in driving a motorboat;
– You have a hands-on mentality;
– Are willing to work weekends ( at least every other week );
– Enjoys working within a team;
– Have an affinity for water recreation;
– are knowledgeable about the recreation and catering facilities along the waterfront in Utrecht;

Commercial/administrative assistant inside sales department

Varen in Utrecht is looking for an enthusiastic commercial employee who can function well in a dynamic and informal working environment.
After an induction period, you will be able to independently handle information and reservation requests, prepare quotations and confirmations, plan the boat trips and assign the skippers. In short, organizing and preparing boat trips and assisting the skipper team. There is also plenty of room for your own input.

Saturday Help

For assistance in our catering basement and all common duties on the sailing jetty, we are looking for an enthusiastic helper who likes to get down to business.

Duties:
– assist the skippers in the preparations of the trips;
– prepare all the necessities ( drinks) for the catering;
– assist in the cleaning of the sloops and cellar area;
– receive our customers during the busy Saturdays;
– Supervise boaters in the execution of the trips;
– possibly pick up and take away our sloops to the storage facility

Minimum Requirements:
– willingness to work an occasional weeknight in addition to Saturdays;
– affinity with water sports;
– customer-oriented attitude;
– living in Utrecht;
– good manners and communication skills.

Pre: Ability to drive a powerboat and hold a small boating license.

Operations Manager

For the new sailing season we are looking for an operations manager responsible for the daily operational activities. This is a versatile position that can be further developed and expanded at your own discretion after an induction period. Depending on your experience you will perform the following activities:

Commercial administrative

• Process information flow and reservation requests via email
• Provide information to customers via telephone
• Provide information to customers at our office Oudegracht 175W
• Preparing, sending and documenting offers and confirmations
• Planning and organizing boat trips through SEM (Smart Event Manager )
• Submit orders to suppliers
• Assist with part accounting (billing and cashiering) etc.
• Scanning incoming documents
• Any other common work related to the position.

Personnel Administration

• Scheduling and arrangement of skippers
• Maintaining time records skipper
• Directing the barge crew at departure jetty

Catering

• Preparing catering for the boat trips
• Processing incoming orders
• If necessary, assist skippers with boarding and un-catering the boats

General

• Replacing management during absences
• ( pre ) Sailing on our passenger ships, tour boats and salon boat.
• Checking boats at night storage ( Hooghiemstra and moorings in the canal )
• Keeping an overview of the departing and arriving boats at the jetty on the Oudegracht.
• Working a Saturday shift at least every other week
• Maintaining contacts with business partners (including Tourism Utrecht and package holders)

Job requirements

You:

• Have a flexible attitude,
• Can work accurately and accurately,

• Mastered at least basic English in word and writing,
• Are resident in Utrecht.

Pre

• familiar with restaurants, wedding venues, attractions and landmarks in the center of Utrecht,
• Experience in boating, and willing to obtain at least your Boating License (VB1 ).
• Related tourism education or experience within a commercial company,
• Are not smoking.
